The aim of the choir is to sing well and have fun doing so. It is impossible to praise the Lord and be miserable at the same time, so laughter is often heard during practices as well as singing at services.
St Laurence church is very fortunate to have a fine peal of 8 bells. The oldest bell, The Sanctus, was originally cast in Buckingham in 1611 and the final pair of bells was added as recently as 1955.
St Laurence's Church runs a rota of drivers who can take those to church for Sunday services who don’t have their own transport and find walking difficult. There is no charge for this service, but it is dependent on us having sufficient drivers to meet the need. If you think you could volunteer as a driver (likely to only be every 4-5 weeks) or would like to make use of the service, please contact the organiser George Hooper.
The St Laurence 100 Club is a monthly draw intended as a fun way to raise money for St Laurence Church in Winslow. We have monthly prizes of £30, £20 and £10 and also make a monthly contribution to the Church funds. Membership is only £12 per year for each ticket, and joining is really easy – just get in touch with the organiser George Hooper and we can allocate you a ticket – better odds of winning than the National Lottery! Winners are announced in the parish magazine every month.
